Imagine waking in the beautiful North Georgia mountains at Tara’s Treehouse, and as soon as your eyes open you see the breathtaking view: the hazy blue Appalachian mountain range, low lying clouds flirting with the mountain tops…one minute they’re touching them, the next they’re gone. The glisten of Lake Burton, so clear and sparkling it appears like diamonds are sitting atop the water. You head to the porch to soak in the view.
Take your pick: the wrap-around porch on the main level has tables, chairs and a swing. Or, walk to the top porch, and enjoy same gorgeous scenery, and watch the view of the mountains constantly change as a pink and yellow orb rises above them. Grab some binoculars and you might even catch a glimpse of the Appalachian Trail.
The air is crisp, and as you sit and breathe in life, you hear it. What is the humming sound? Fix your eyes on the hanging bird feeders, and you’ll catch a glimpse of the magical creatures. The tiny hummingbird watches you as you watch him, drinking the sugar water, but never landing or even slowing enough for you to see how fast his wings flutter. As soon as he darts off through the trees, the Carolina Chickadee is right there, singing a melody.
The view at dusk is equally amazing. Don’t turn away for a minute, though, or you’ll miss the flying squirrels gliding from tree to tree. Don’t worry about it being too quiet to sleep…the cicadas and/or katydids will play a soothing harmony for you as you drift off. Whether you choose to sleep in one of the two bedrooms on the top level (sleeps up to 4), or the apartment on the lower level (sleeps up to 4), you will have a spectacular lake and mountain view on every level.
Sleep with windows open, fans on, fireplace going…your choice. You’re tucked away in breathless mountain beauty, and yet have all the comforts of home. This mountaintop retreat has wood floors throughout, central air/heat, full kitchen with all appliances, 3 full baths, fireplace, washer/dryer, satellite TV, VCR/DVD players, telephone, WiFi, ceiling fans in all rooms, games, and more.
With full amenities, majestic views and only a seven mile drive into Clayton, GA, it’s no surprise that guests have said about Tara’s Treehouse, “How is it when we visit we always feel like we’re coming home, and yet we’ve never lived here?” Everything you could possibly need is here. Come home...
"Five wonderful days of "making memories" at Tara's Treehouse or 'Hog Heaven' =). Gentle rain, good food, long hikes, swimming, swinging on the porch, F-15 fly by, 4-wheelers in the wee morning =), a deer, a turkey, blue skies, a fire in July!, playing yahtzee, sleeping in, smores, and peaceful sunsets are a few of the great times we enjoyed. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us." ~Fred and Michelle
Our family gathered to celebrate Christmas together and we could not have done it at a more perfect place. There were 10 of us (6 adults and 4 children) and we never felt cramped. The views are fantastic and those of us upstairs slept with the blinds open to enjoy watching the stars and moon over Lake Burton. Our only complaint would be that our time there was just too short (one week never seems to be enought in the mountains! We enjoyed it so much that we're anticipating making this if not annual event at least one that we enjoy every two years. Great location. Great amenities.
I spent a delightful weekend at Tara's Treehouse in August 2014. The house is so comfortable and charming. I spent 2 relaxing nights enjoying the porch swing, the cool night air and the beautiful view. The owners are quite pleasant and easy to deal with. I intend to visit again in the future and have already recommended this home to my friends and family. It is a lovely place to unwind.
My family just finished our 4th(!) stay at Tara's Treehouse. It was our first in a couple of years and we were pleasantly surprised by the renovations to the main floor. The view is AMAZING. Photos do not do the view justice. We have stayed all over the north Georgia mountains and it is by far our favorite cabin. If we could fit all our friends and family in there, we would never stay anywhere else. We love the downstairs living area. It was perfect to let the kids run around while we watched a movie. I really cannot say enough about how much we enjoy this cabin. And the owners are communicative as well. Clayton is such a cute mountain town and there are plenty of family friendly places to eat and things to do (our kids especially loved Goats on the Roof and the playground at Black Rock State Park). My son was devastated to leave so we will have to return soon!
